Looking for Life-Changing Healthy Habits for Self-Improvement?

Welcome to “Nourish + Flex!” My name is Kim Shaieb and I thank you for being here! I’m just a mom fighting my way through this mid-life crisis! Overall wellness is my true passion so I’m really excited about the healthy tips I will be detailing for you here. I hope you will find value in the information I’m sharing and apply it to your lifestyle. I’ll be writing about wellness topics that I’m enthusiastic about. This site will also cover the activities and habits that have worked for me.

My eBook “Holistic Habits, for balanced living” encompasses nine healthy habits, which include nutrition, exercise, sleep, positive mindset, meditation, learn, meaningful relationships, eliminate alcohol, and declutter. These habits support physical, social, and emotional well-being and I’ll be touching on each of these. I consider the eBook to be a steppingstone to future endeavors and it has prompted me to launch this blog. Things have been slowly evolving and falling into place. I have two teenage boys that have tree nut allergies and were recently diagnosed with celiac disease, so I’ll be including gluten-free, nut free recipes that actually taste good and that you can make in a reasonable amount of time.

I was racking my brain to come up with a unique, but relatable name that includes the wellness elements I have been working on. I’ve been improving myself for quite a while now and it feels amazing. The “Nourish + Flex” name covers many aspects of health and wellness. It came to fruition because of the habits I’d been gradually incorporating into my daily routine. It’s important to “nourish” our bodies, but also our minds and relationships. Catering to these various habits enables us to become well-rounded and balanced. Our unique assets should be acknowledged and protected.

You can associate the word “flex” with your muscles, brain and skillset. Flexing your skillset means putting your talents and abilities to good use and I’ll be discussing various hobbies that are great for a positive mood and mindset. As individuals, we are capable of so much more but tend to shy away from trying new things because we’re afraid of failure.

As my healthy habits took hold and became automatic, I quickly realized the significance of consistency, which compounds over time. I was getting noticeable results, but I wasn’t spending an ungodly amount of time doing so, which taught me a lot about time management.  I still had an ample number of hours to pursue hobbies and interests. As I noticed things changing for the better, I began to build confidence. I think highly of myself now unlike in the past when I thought I wasn’t capable or deserving.  My outlook transformed into positivity and my priorities became clear to me. I’m considering this to be my growth phase where I’m hungry to do better, look better and feel better. I don’t want to be content with where I am currently because I know there’s more waiting for me.

The amount of time I wasted sitting around being unproductive is really discouraging and I know I’m not alone. We tend to get comfortable with the path of least resistance and accept complacency because it’s easy. I have a hard time wrapping my head around “what could have been,” but I’ve learned from it and I’m certain I won’t fall back into old habits.

This is the most consistent and disciplined I’ve ever been which is why I wanted to initiate this blog. I know people need guidance and support now more than ever. Many are struggling with nutrition, fitness, emotional intelligence and a slew of other areas. My goal is to share my experiences and knowledge that have brought me success so you can work on improving yourself too. Writing the eBook was both rewarding and frightening. It’s scary putting myself out there without knowing what people will think of my work. The reality is that you have to start somewhere. Over time, you slowly realize you can accomplish your goals and you start believing in yourself.

Self-improvement can be addicting as you move through your personal development journey. You’ll look for ways to fine tune your to-do list tasks and make time for even more rewarding adventures. My mantra for 2024 is “Rise Above,” and it has a personal meaning for my family. For you it would include anything that you need to come to terms with or face head-on. The only way to grow as a person is to step outside of your comfort zone and confront your adversities directly. “Rise Above” all your fears and challenges. I look forward to getting to know you and being part of a supportive community!
