Peanut Butter Pumpkin Dog Treats

The healthy dog treats I buy are pretty pricey, so I took a stab at making my own. They include four ingredients and a splash of water. It seems like my two dogs will eat anything, so hopefully your pups will enjoy them too.

I only have gluten-free flour in my pantry, but I’m guessing any flour will do. I add a little pumpkin to my dog’s kibble daily, so they’re both used to it. Pumpkin can be good for digestion but check with your veterinarian first.

Ingredients

2 eggs

2/3 cup canned pumpkin

1/3 cup natural peanut butter

2 cups flour (I used gluten-free)

1-2 Tbsp water as needed

Instructions

Mix eggs, pumpkin, and peanut butter until smooth.

Add flour ½ cup at a time and mix with a fork (you can also use a stand mixer.)

Add a little water gradually to combine ingredients evenly.

Knead the dough into a ball.

Roll into desired sizes (I made 1” balls and little ½ teaspoon sized treats.) You can score the small ones with a fork as you would peanut butter cookies.

For fun, use cookie cutters or shape into dog bones.

Bake at 350 degrees for 20 to 30 minutes (20 minutes for smaller treats, 30 minutes for larger.)

Refrigerate for up to a week and then freeze (thaw on counter before serving.)
